New Years Resolutions 2012

Happy New Year all! Well… nearly!

I haven’t written on here for a while. I guess I’ve been suffering lately from what do they call it? Writer’s block?

I thought the best way to get back into it would be with my New Year’s Resolutions. Relatively speaking, 2011 was a pretty successful year for me. LilMissAshes was born and I passed 1000 followers on Twitter, I published my eBook Point to Fine Leg with the help of Pitchvision, I was invited to chat on BBC Wales, BBC London and BBC Essex about my book and cricket, I met many fantastic journalists and presenters who have inspired me for years, to name just a few of the wonderful things that have happened to me this year, and I am ever so grateful for every single one.

However, I’ve met some pretty awesome people in 2011 who have made me realise the things that really are important. It’s not all about what you do for yourself, it’s what you do for other people. It’s not always about where you’ve got to, it’s about who’s helped you get there.

I looked back at my 2 bucket list blogs and realised how materialistic they sounded. How can a person be so caught up in everything that’s happening to them and forget about what other people are going through?

So I’ll say this, stand up and take note in 2012. There are 7 billion people in the world, not 1. Enjoy it, because you never know how long you’ll have it for. Life can change so quickly. Love like you’ve never loved before and value all those around you. You never know how long you’ll have them for.

You only get one innings.

My 2012 New Year’s Resolutions

  1. Do more for other people (e.g. run Race for Life)
  2. Don’t be so competitive all the time/be humble in defeat
  3. Stop putting off important tasks
  4. Join a team (e.g. sport/dancing/amateur dramatic society)
  5. Enter Pointless and The Cube
  6. Do more gigs
  7. Write more stories
  8. Write a song
  9. Visit Nanna more
  10. Get eBook published hardback
  11. Make a YouTube video
  12. Have a positive influence on somebody’s life
  13. Buy a new car
  14. Join a gym and stop doing pay as you go
  15. Commence culling of the Facebook friend’s list

Ok, so there may be a few materialistic resolutions in there but hey, I’m a female, not a Saint!
